My friend texted me a few weeks back, saying that we needed to discuss the new Rachael Ray, as soon as I got one. Well I couldn't find one anywhere.
So today, I checked the mail to find this surprise. She not only sent me the magazine, but a list of the recipes that she thought sounded good.
And they did. And I will make them so we can discuss notes.
But that's not the point of this blog.
The point is to say this. Rachael Ray has a bucket list. Included on it are 50 things she (writers of her magazine?) thinks one should do before the kick the proverbial bucket. Of the 50 items; which included things like seeing Alaska's Northern Lights, swimming with manatees, joining a flashmob, and bobsledding at an Olympic Park; I've done .5. Yes, point five, or one half of one, of the 50.
And .5 is really a stretch.
APPARENTLY, the Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum in Key West is home to nearly 50 six-toed cats. Yes, you read that right. SIX-TOED CATS. Also apparently, Rachael Ray thinks that before you die, you should most certainly visit the home of this American Lit Writer not to LEARN about his life or TAKE YOURSELF BACK to a better time by visiting his homestead. No. You should go to chase the six-toed cats.
Where am I going with this?
Well, growing up, we had a cat named Blacky. And he had six toes.
So, to be fair, I gave myself point five out of fifty. But only point five because I've never been to Ernest Hemingway's homestead. And to be even more fair, it reads "Chase six-toed catS" with an S. And I've only ever met one six-toed cat and to be COMPLETELY HONEST, I can't recall ever chasing him. But I do recall dressing him up. And I recall him chasing me up the steps of our house. So I figure being chased by a six-toed cat is worth more than chasing six-toed cats.
So instead of a third of a point (.33 taken for not going to Key West, and .33 for only ONE cat), I gave myself .5, you know, since Blacky did the chasing.
Don't worry. I am shaking my own head right now.
